So crux of the ordinances is: Two year fixed tenure for CBI and ED director, extendable by another three years, one year at a time. Each extension should be cleared by the selection committee that makes the original appointment. Immediate beneficiary will be ED chief S K Mishra

The Delhi Special Police Establishment (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021
Any ED or CBI chief can get tenure extension of up to 5 years, with three extensions, one year at a time.

With this Ordinance, ED Director S K Mishra to get a maximum of two more extensions of one year each.

The said tenures will be extended one year at a time, with the approval of the respective selection committees. Maximum tenure, including the original tenure as per initial appointment, should not exceed five years, as per the govt notification.
